5 ways to boost your immune system

With the beginning of autumn, our body becomes more susceptible to any bacterial and viral infections. It's good to know how to strengthen your body and, as a result, reduce the risk of getting infections.

Practical ways to strengthen immunity

Fortunately, there are several practical ways to help us strengthen our resilience.

  • Vitamin D supplements - vitamin D should be supplemented in the autumn and winter period. One of the methods of supplementation are sessions in the solarium, during which our body produces vitamin D. If you are not a regular visitor of the solarium, remember to ask the staff for help in adjusting the length of the tanning session to your predispositions. Studies have shown that people taking 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day had a cold drop from 25 to less than 5 a year.
  • Get enough sleep - sleep works as a cure for colds and naturally strengthens the body's immunity, as confirmed by researchers at Stanford University.
  • Balanced diet - our menu should include vegetables and fruits, among others such as; garlic, onions, tomatoes, spinach and citrus, which are rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals and support the immune boosting process. Additionally, it is worth replacing sugar with honey during this period, which in addition to strengthening immunity has antibacterial properties. In the period of weakened immunity, we should especially follow the recommended five meals a day and not skip any of them.
  • Take up a sport - exercise is responsible for improving the work of the immune system. Systematic exercise increases the body's immunity. Relax… You don't have to become the king / queen of the gym right away, a 40 minute walk at least three times a week is enough.
  • Give up stimulants - frequent drinking of strong coffee, alcohol abuse causes the body to rinse out valuable vitamins and minerals, including magnesium.
